The Task Force Meeting was May 30, 2019 in the Library Conference Room. Members of the Town of Wickenburg Task Force in attendance were: Mayor Everett Sickles, Rusty Gant, Vince Lorefice, Royce Kardinal and Kathy Weiss. Also in attendance was Jay Van Echo, the I-11 project manager from ADOT.
There were also approximately 12-15 residents from Vista Royale present. Several of whom spoke, and expressed their concerns about having I-11 so close to the subdivision of Vista Royale. The members on the committee were very receptive, and passed a motion to write a letter to ADOT requesting that I-11 be at least 5 miles away from any Wickenburg subdivision. This letter will need to be approved by the Town Council at the next Council meeting.
Another topic that came up at the meeting was the annexation of Vista Royale. Vince Lorefice, and other members on the committee, said that the Town currently has no desire to annex Vista Royale. There reasoning was something like... "It would be of no economic benefit to the Town".
As of the date of this post being published, (June 9, 2019), the minutes from the meeting still have not been published. However, the Town has published a piece entitled "Actions Taken" from the 5/30/19 meeting, and oddly, there is no mention of the discussion that took place, nor the agreement to write the letter requesting I-11 be 5 miles from Vista Royale.
